With 40+ years in North Oaks, I know our culture and the important issues. On the NOHOA Brd (6 yrs, 4 as Pres.), we built the beach bathroom, the West Rec center, and commissioned a Roads and Asset Study. On the Planning Commission (4 yrs, incl as Chair), we handled many complex development projects, successfully engage the public, analyzed environmental impacts, contract obligations, and developed comprehensive recommendations to the City Council. We finalized the current Comprehensive Plan. On City Council, we created a Financial Mgmt Plan, negotiated a long-term water supply contract, built a new fire station (on time/under budget), stood up a public works dept, and began an infrastructure study, and built a better relationship w/ NOHOA.
1. Finalize a long-term solution for the location of City Hall (shared with NOHOA). 2.We are running out of space for replacement of aging and noncompliant septic systems and face water management issues. I intend to finalize our study to address conservative long-term solutions for these issues, incl. local control 3. Safety and security is also a primary concern. I will continue to engage our police and fire partners, for effective and meaningful community policing, trespassing and speeding.
The City won an Age Friendly Grant, to promote resident engagement, identify improvements and programs to be more age friendly and inclusive. I will engage residents by listening openly, communicating transparently, and being present in our neighborhoods. I will seek input from long‑time and new residents alike, work collaboratively with community groups, and ensure decisions reflect varied perspectives. My goal is to build trust, encourage participation, and represent fairly and w/ respect.
I will ensure transparency by sharing clear, timely information and making city decisions easy to understand. I’ll support accessible public meetings, open communication, and regular updates on projects and finances. For accountability, I’ll rely on data‑driven decisions, follow established policies, and welcome resident feedback to strengthen trust and improve how we serve the community.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
