I’m not sure I would say I am the “best” candidate, but I believe I bring a strong combination of experience, community involvement, and genuine passion for St. Joseph. I grew up here and returned after college because this is where my wife, Christina, and I wanted to raise our family. I have served on the City Council and currently chair the Planning Commission. I also serve as President of the St. Joseph Lions Club and St. Joseph Area Dollars for Scholars. I have spent 26 years coaching diving, including 11 years at CSB/SJU. These experiences have taught me the importance of listening, teamwork, accountability, and working together for the common good. . I am committed to keeping St. Joseph a great place to live, work, and raise a family
My top three priorities will be responsible growth, fiscal responsibility, and strengthening our community. We need thoughtful growth in housing, businesses, and our industrial park while planning ahead for roads, water, and sewer infrastructure. I will work to protect taxpayer dollars and plan for our long-term financial needs. I also want to support families, recreation, and community spaces that bring people together and make St. Joseph a great place to call home.
I believe servant leadership starts with listening. I will make myself accessible, seek different perspectives, and understand concerns before making decisions. I won’t always agree with everyone, but I will respect everyone and work toward what is best for St. Joseph. I pride myself on asking questions when I don’t have the answers and finding solutions together. I can’t win for everyone, but I can fight for everyone to have a voice, be heard, and be represented.
I will support open communication, clear explanations of City decisions, and make information accessible to residents. Taxpayers deserve to understand how their money is spent and why decisions are made. I will ask tough questions, encourage public participation, and hold myself and City leadership accountable for following through. Transparency is more than providing information, it means listening, explaining, and being accountable to the people we serve.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
