Savage City Council Member {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

As local legislators who sometimes have executive power, council members can propose ordinances, set administrative policy, and authorize the budget proposed by the mayor. They oversee all city activities, including city services, programs, licensing, and public safety. Mayoral appointments to city government typically require council approval. I'm the best candidate for this position because I have the necessary leadership and organizing experience to get things done for Savage. I grew up in this city, this city made me the woman I am today and I want to give back to the community that raised me.

I will use the powers and responsibilities of a city councilor to their fullest extent, lobbying for projects and policies that will benefit Savage residents like a public hospital and community college, and work with our neighboring cities like Burnsville to protect crucial natural resources like our water supply.

Finally, I'm the only candidate who wants to maintain a direct line of communication with our constituents and give them a greater direct voice in city government.
1. Clean Water: Work with the city of Burnsville and the state of Minnesota to excavate the landfill in Burnsville that threatens both cities' water supply. 2. Community Center: Build a community center here in Savage as a safe and accessible space to hold events, hang out, and have fun. 3. Public Health: Establish a non-profit public hospital/clinic in Savage to reduce capacity issues at Fairview and St. Francis and provide low-cost healthcare options to Savage residents.
I'll have monthly town halls at small businesses in Savage willing to host us where I can inform constituents about the work the council is doing, where proposals designed to help Savage are at the state and federal level, and give people the opportunity to speak directly, plainly, and casually to their councilor about the issues they care about.
During my monthly town halls, I'll give a summary of the recent city council reports, including performance reviews, budget reports, fiscal reports, and so on within legal limits. At the same time, I'll be giving people updates and reports on what the city council is doing so every Savage resident can be as informed as possible.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
