My opponent has been on council for as long as I have been alive. It’s time for some new ideas But seriously, I am the best candidate. I’m an educator – so I have compassion, I can see cause and effect clearly. I can easily see other view points without discounting them; I used to think this was bad because I could be “easily swayed” by new information, but guess what…I take in new information! I use that info to think critically about concepts that most people don’t question because, “that’s just the way we do it” Example; who would be crazy enough to start a full blown recycling center on a high school campus, because he sees a useful potential of what the school’s waste could be. This is the mindset we need. Vote Bergh Ward 3
Housing;Follow this real quick -- $850 one bedroom apt.; median income = $33K. with this market, people are spending 63.5% of their available income on a one bedroom apartment! Accountability; Our leaders have been too easy on determining where our money goes. Everyone is concerend about increasing taxes. I am concerned about what you and I get out of our tax dollars. Civil Liberties; We all saw too much violence this year. From multiple sources. I’ll ensure that everyone feels safe in willmar
Town halls, Ward meetings, Block Parties... events that bring people together and get people talking. I will make myself accessible to everyone through the usual channels (email, phone etc.) but the more people are willing to speak their minds the more able I will be to represent their ideals as well. As an educator at the high school, I have met people who are members of every culture in Willmar and Everyone deserves to have their voices heard, I will work to reach all peoples in Willmar.
Government is supposed to serve the people. And Information is power. The more information the people have about how the government works the better. So I would call for; -Public facing budgets and expenditures where line items can be easily found by the public - Plain-language budget summaries mailed to every household each year. Public data is accessible but not always understood, this will ensure that residents know HOW their taxes benefit them - Public statements for public interest events

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
