I've lived my entire adult life in the Red River Valley, most of it in Moorhead. As a broadcast journalist I covered city, county and state politics, which gave me solid background on local governments and how the various political personalities react to events and issues. Changing careers to tourism in 2012 showed me local governments from a different angle and taught me new ways to interact. I believe all that experience sets me up well to join the Moorhead Council.
Continue Moorhead's orderly growth, including growing the commercial tax base. Work with Mn lawmakers to improve “border cities” legislation so the city can better compete with Fargo & WF. Make a 3rd Fire Station and the staff to support it a top priority for the city. Last time I checked, Moorhead had more single-family residential lots available than Fargo. We need to find ways to make those lots and the homes to be built on them affordable.
I would endeavor to reach out to individuals and groups within the city and would invite them to reach out to me. I'm pretty easy to find.
It seems to me the City Council meetings have become somewhat sterile, and that most of the "sausage making" has happened somewhere else. The meetings need to be less opaque to the citizen who may listen in, so I would like to see a more robust discussion of issues and projects at the actual Council Meetings.

They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.
