I have years of experience after retiring from the City of Keewatin with 19 years of service. I also was elected and sat on the City Council for a 4 year term after my retirement in 2020. I will be a mayor that is committed to honesty, transparency, trust and build strong communication with both employees and residence.
I will work on federal/state funding for our aging infrastructure throughout the city. Work on Jarvis‘s field for residential housing, which has been in the works for decades. The City of Hibbing annex it over to Keewatin to expand city limits. With a project like this moving forward, it increases city property tax revenue, which helps public services and community operations. Take a long hard look at the budget and see where changes could be made to make the city run more efficient.
I would show trust, transparent, and stay open minded. I would work to strengthen both employee and community trust. If you are a mayor of a city and have 7 or 10,000 residents, your ethical leadership is key to the success of your City. I would be open to all residents along with employees and listen to their concerns. I will work hard to do what is right for our community and lead by example. I will show fairness, honesty to gain an atmosphere of trust.
I would like to go back to quarterly department head meetings that were done in the past. I would also attend local club meetings to have one on one with each of these group's. To listen to their feedback good or bad.
I would work with the City Council and listen to the residence. Take a good look at the city code and all city policies to see if they are current for the times or if changes would need to be made.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
