I believe my record on the Nowthen City Council demonstrates the approach I would bring as Mayor: ask hard questions, seek answers, and focus on responsible use of taxpayer dollars. For the past two years, I have worked to ensure major spending decisions are carefully examined, while advocating for better planning, transparency, and meaningful resident input. I support using the knowledge and experience of our residents through ad hoc citizen advisory committees to review budgets, major projects, and long-term priorities. I want a City Hall that listens, protects Nowthen’s rural character, and makes decisions based on facts, data, and careful planning. I’m running to bring a stronger voice for residents to the mayor’s office.
1. Responsible spending: scrutinize major expenses, staffing and long-term costs before asking residents for more. 2. A meaningful resident voice: create ad hoc citizen committees so local knowledge helps inform budgets, projects and planning. 3. Protect Nowthen’s rural character: support essential services, thoughtful growth and property rights through careful, fact-based planning. These priorities will promote transparency, accountability and a stronger, financially sustainable Nowthen.
If elected, I will lead with openness, accountability, and integrity. I will encourage clear communication about budgets, spending, major projects, and city decisions, while welcoming questions and public input. I will support citizen advisory committees to provide independent community perspectives and recommendations. I will expect decisions to be based on facts, data, city policy, and the best interests of Nowthen residents, while avoiding personal agendas and conflicts of interest.
I will engage with residents by listening, encouraging open dialogue, and creating meaningful opportunities for community input. I support ad hoc citizen advisory committees that bring together residents with diverse experiences to review budgets, major projects, planning, and future priorities. I will welcome questions, seek input before major decisions, and ensure residents have a voice in how their tax dollars are spent while protecting Nowthen’s rural character and community values.
I would prioritize a safe, connected community by supporting our law enforcement, fire department, and emergency services with the resources, training, and equipment they need. I will encourage open communication between residents, city leaders, and public safety personnel, while listening to concerns and addressing issues proactively. I will support responsible planning and efficient use of public safety resources to protect residents.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
