As Mayor, I’ve gained deep knowledge of all of the responsibilities of city government. Understanding the mechanics of government, details of infrastructure and services that matter to our residents, and the relationships that make progress possible, has equipped me to serve this community. I’ve led the progress made in stabilizing finances by taking a strategic approach to meet the current needs of our community and planning for future investments. One action I’ve taken is designating funds to reduce and finally eliminate special assessments for street projects. I’ve developed valuable relationships with other local governments, Ramsey County, and the State legislature, that provide insight into common challenges and access to resources.
1. I will continue my efforts to reach out and be in community with our residents, enhance engagement through standing commissions, create new commissions, and dedicate staff committed to communications. 2. I will continue to stabilize city planning and budgeting and eliminate street assessments. 3. I will continue to champion development, both private and public, to best serve our residents and business community.
I have maintained a strong commitment to transparency and integrity during my time in office. I will work to improve on past performance by investing in proactive and consistent communication, redoubling our efforts to inform the community about current and pending city issues. I will continue to promote more public engagement with general interest events, like town halls, and expand commission opportunities to advise the council on financial decisions.
I have worked diligently on civic engagement. I will support the work of our standing commissions by increasing interaction with the City Council. I will create a Finance Commission to advise the City Council. I will develop opportunities for all residents to interact with the City Council at open houses and town halls. The recently created Fire Station Advisory Panel, which will recommend the best solutions to the challenges of aging Fire Department infrastructure, is an example of engagement.
Vadnais Heights is served by the Ramsey County Sheriff. They provide people-centered service, not just enforcement. The City Council meets regularly with the Sheriff to review the ways they serve our community, to identify potential improvements in policy and practice, and to make recommendations. Our Fire Department and Sheriff are actively engaged with residents at many city events.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
