I am the best candidate because I bring proven leadership, public service, and a deep commitment to Lanesboro. For more than 20 years, I have worked as an educator and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership, developing strengths in listening, problem-solving, consensus-building, and responsible resource management. I served eight years on the Lanesboro Park Board and was a founding member of the Lanesboro Area Community Foundation. I also served six years in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller and have spent 31 years serving through the American Legion. I will lead with integrity, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to Lanesboro’s future.
If elected, my priorities are a strong economy, preserving Lanesboro’s quality of life, and transparent government. I will support local businesses, tourism, responsible housing growth, and infrastructure improvements. I will protect our historic character, support public safety, parks, arts, and community events, and ensure residents have a voice in decisions. I will lead with fiscal responsibility, open communication, and accountability while planning for Lanesboro’s future.
If elected, I will lead with transparency, accountability, and integrity. Residents deserve a city government that is open, responsive, and worthy of their trust. I will ensure easy access to information on city projects, budgets, and decisions, support regular town halls, and encourage public input before major decisions are made. As mayor, I will maintain an open-door approach, provide clear updates, and build trust through honesty, accessibility, and ethical leadership.
If elected, I will make resident engagement a priority. I will hold regular town halls and listening sessions, encourage public input before major decisions, and maintain an open-door approach. I will provide clear summaries of council meetings, project updates, and budget information so residents stay informed. By meeting with businesses, community groups, and residents, I will ensure all voices are heard and city government remains transparent, accountable, and responsive.
Public safety starts with trust, communication, and strong partnerships. As mayor, I will support our police, fire, and emergency personnel and ensure they have the resources needed to serve effectively. I will promote community policing by encouraging regular communication, listening to residents, and fostering collaboration. Together, we can keep Lanesboro safe, welcoming, and prepared for the future.
I bring both a love for the community, applicable professional experience, and a record of getting things done. I’ve managed million-dollar budgets, complex projects, and teams of up to 50 people. As Mayor, I’ve built relationships across our region and at the Capitol, pursued funding and grants, expanded transparency, and helped bring new partnerships and programs to Lanesboro. I show up, not just when something is exciting, but again and again. With Highway 250 ahead, Lanesboro needs someone willing to ask questions, find resources, build relationships, and advocate relentlessly for our community. I’ve spent my first term doing exactly that, and I’m ready to keep going.
My #1 priority is getting Lanesboro through Highway 250 while pursuing every funding and management assistance opportunity I can to reduce the burden on residents. #2 is keeping Lanesboro a place where people can afford to build a life, age in place, and make a living, including our agricultural families. #3 is continuing to build strong relationships locally, regionally, and at the Capitol because small towns need strong partners and a strong voice to compete for resources and opportunities.
Transparency has been a priority throughout my first term. We expanded meeting minutes to better capture public comments and made meeting recordings available online so residents can hear discussions for themselves. I also encourage residents to ask questions and work to make City information easier to understand and access. I’ll continue pushing for clear communication, open decision-making, responsible use of public dollars, and a City government where residents can understand the "why".
Being accessible is one of the most important (and one of my favorite) parts of being Mayor. I talk with residents at meetings, community events, local businesses, online, and often just walking around town. I’ve worked to create more ways for people to ask questions and understand what is happening at City Hall. I’ll keep meeting people where they are, seeking input early when possible, and making sure residents know that I work for them and take their feedback seriously.
I want Lanesboro to be a community where everyone feels safe. That means building trust, keeping people informed, connecting residents with help before problems become crises, and supporting our law enforcement and emergency responders. I’ll continue pursuing grants and outside funding to strengthen those services and support prevention, preparedness, and emergency response. Strong relationships and early intervention can help prevent problems and keep our community safer.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.
