I bring proven leadership, deep knowledge of Mound, and experience managing both people and public resources. During 51 years with the Mound Fire Department, including 25 as Fire Chief, I worked with residents, city leaders, neighboring communities, and government partners to solve problems and deliver results. My private-sector career adds experience managing teams, projects, and multimillion-dollar budgets. I understand that leadership requires accountability, collaboration, sound financial decisions, and the willingness to adapt when circumstances change. After more than 50 years in Mound, I know this community, understand its challenges, and am prepared to serve from day one.
My top priorities are responsible stewardship, a safe and welcoming community, and smart planning for Mound’s future. I will hold city teams accountable for spending taxpayer dollars wisely while seeking grants and partnerships. I will prioritize public safety, property maintenance, beautification, and protection of our lakes and natural resources. Finally, I will focus on infrastructure, reliable city services, and thoughtful planning that strengthens Mound for future generations.
Trust is earned through clear communication, consistent actions, and follow-through. I will support open decision-making, clearly communicate the reasoning behind priorities and major investments, and ensure residents can easily understand how their tax dollars are being used. I will set clear expectations, ask difficult questions when necessary, and hold myself and city leadership accountable for results. Ethical leadership means doing what is right, even when it is not the easiest choice.
Good decisions begin with listening. I want residents to have multiple ways to communicate with city leadership—not only at formal meetings, but through community events, conversations, digital communication, and opportunities for input before important decisions are made. I will be accessible, listen respectfully to differing viewpoints, and explain how and why decisions are reached. We may not always agree, but every resident should know their perspective was heard and considered.
My 51 years in public safety taught me that safe communities are built on preparation, prevention, partnerships, and trust. I will support strong relationships among residents, law enforcement, fire, EMS, schools, and neighboring communities. Public safety should be proactive as well as responsive, with an emphasis on communication, education, preparedness, and efficient use of resources. Every resident should feel that help is accessible and that their safety and well-being matter.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
