Fergus Falls is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. That story is my story, and a story I love to tell. It has been an honor to serve on the city council since 2018. I enjoy working with city staff and the other council members to continually maintain and improve our city. I am always looking to add value, to make things better. I am patient, and understand the time and effort required to build a strong community. The experience I have gained and the relationships I have built over the last eight years on the council have prepared me well for what’s ahead. My work on the council is complemented by my day job selling commercial signs, working with people in all kinds of businesses, municipalities, and non-profit organizations.
Roads & infrastructure – We have a primary obligation to properly maintain our streets, water, and sewer systems. Redevelopment of the RTC and the mall – These spaces have great potential, and should be contributing to our tax base. Housing – Existing businesses would like to expand, and new businesses would like to open, and we need more housing options for additional employees. Providing incentives for the development of new housing is one key to our overall economic development effort.
I attend many community activities and events, and regularly find myself in conversations about “city business”. I shop locally. I have a Facebook page: Scott Kvamme - Fergus Falls City Council. My contact information is publicly available, and my home number is listed in the phone book. I encourage anyone with a question or concern to call me at 218-739-5813, or email scott.kvamme@fergusfallsmn.gov.
Dr. Stephen Covey said: “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” I ask good questions, and look for consistency and clarity in our city processes and policies. I encourage people to participate in the Open Forum at the beginning of each City Council meeting, and to stay up to date with city news by following the city’s Facebook page. City Council meetings are recorded and available on PEG Access TV and YouTube.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
