I am the best candidate for mayor of Morris because I listen to the people and encourage civic participation. During his tenure, Mayor Wohlers motioned to move Citizens’ Comments to the end of the meeting. I do not share this attitude. My job is to listen and respond. I am the best candidate for mayor of Morris because I am equipped to do so. After 2020, I went back to school and earned my doctoral certificate in Law and Policy. My goal is to serve my community while protecting your rights, ensuring public safety, and encouraging the free market. I want Morris to be affordable for our residents. I want to be a tool to make our city a place where families want to live for generations.
First, I want the fire department to have a fire truck with a ladder long enough to reach the tallest building at the University of Minnesota, Morris, and grain silos as a matter of public safety. Second, I want the Public Workshop to be rebuilt or refurbished because of the holes in the walls and racoons. Third, I want to create an effective communication process with the people of Morris because communication engenders involvement and minimizes misunderstanding.
I would like to engender transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct by communicating with the people of Morris through quick YouTube videos. This is to say, a few days before a city council meets, I want the people to hear what is on the agenda so that they can appeal or comment on the actions of the city council. I would also like Morris to have a calendar of its meeting agendas placed on the website, so that residents can quickly see what is going on and where.
Right now, I serve on the Park Board. With the initiative of a local volunteer, the park board now has a questionnaire about our parks available to the public, soliciting their feedback. After a few months have passed, we will collect the data and use it in our planning of future park improvements. The city council could use this method to look for feedback in other areas as well. I have no problem door knocking to let people know when the city is making a decision about them.
My primary duty is to ensure public safety. Within our public safety agencies, I want the fire department to have the equipment it needs to accomplish its work, particularly that fire truck with a sufficiently long ladder. Within public policy, I want to make fair and simple legislation that gives people the greatest amount of freedom. Within community life, I want all areas that the public uses to be safe and maintained.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
