Priority number one: Affordable healthcare - all citizens of MN deserve healthcare that they can afford. I will work to ensure that this becomes a reality. Priority number two: Affordable childcare - childcare is infrastructure. Helping young families by providing affordable, safe and high quality childcare is as important as having good quality roads. Priority number three: Affordable housing - citizens of this state have a basic right to housing that is affordable. Every family deserves a safe place to call home. Working with cities and counties across the state we develop strategies to build the housing units we need.
Our vibrant state economy is due to many factors that support industry: Among these are infrastructure like roads, education systems, quality of life, housing and many natural resources for recreation and industry. By supporting these infrastructure pieces we support the economy. As our state moves from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources it presents a huge opportunity for job growth. Inflation however is not easily changed as it is a national issue and not just a local issue.
Racial and ethnic disparities are present. The legislature can provide guidance to help create more opportunities for communities of color. This starts with solid educational experiences, employment opportunities, housing that is affordable and available and efforts to make these communities safe places to live. If elected I would want to work with other senators to assess what legislation may be needed to build greater equity.
Yes, I support the ERA amendment. As ERAMN says "Equality has no qualifiers."
The importance of clean air and water in our state is critical. As Minnesota moves forward we need to ensure that systems are in place to maintain and enhance the air and water. By this I mean that chemicals such as Forever Chemicals and others such as nitrates need to be closely monitored and reduced below the thresholds of human impacts. If this requires new legislation then I would be willing to help create that legislation.
Safety in communities requires many levels of engagement and support. It begins with education of youth so that they have obtained the tools necessary to do better in life. Young people need outlets for their energy. It is imperative that adults in every community provide safe places for young people to play and learn to work with others. Places like YMCAs, Boys and Girls Club and after school clubs, activities and sports provide great learning places for youth. Invest in our young people.
As much as Minnesota can do we need to stop the influence that organizations, PACs and super rich are having on our elections. The mantra "One man, one vote", should also apply to how we can fund campaigns. Minnesota's model, Political Contribution Refund, should be fully engaged and then any additional money can only be individual donors up to $1000 per individual. No other money should be allowed for it skews our elections towards the will of those with the most funds.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
