What changes to legislation would you support to reduce the influence of big money in elections? (500 characters)

1) Affordability - Too many families are struggling to just get by. As State Senator, I will prioritize policies and programs to help working families when it comes to wages, healthcare, and prices.

2) Fraud - The amount of fraud that has taken place in Minnesota is unacceptable. The Legislature recently approved the position of Inspector General and I will work with the IG to prevent fraud and punish fraudsters.

3) Education - As an educator for 10 years in public schools, I will work to increase per pupil funding, update educational standards to meet today’s needs, expand career and technical education, give schools flexibility in their food programs, and support teacher recruitment and retention programs.
As a family farmer, I know firsthand the struggles family farms are facing across Minnesota. Diesel prices are up over 75% since last year and input prices are up too. It's vital we support family farms in Minnesota.

We also need to help small businesses with better options for healthcare, business loans, and local bonding initiatives to help towns grow. My district includes Farmington, Northfield, and New Prague and these towns are incredible because of their small businesses.
We need to address racial disparities at the root causes, and one way we can do this is investing in early childhood education, and expanding access to quality and affordable childcare for every family. We can also help kids succeed throughout their education with investments in student mental and emotional health.

Disparities in health outcomes is another significant area of concern. We need to ensure the stability of our healthcare system and access to affordable healthcare.
Yes, especially during this time of significant overreach by the Federal Government. We need to protect basic freedoms and rights, especially for minority groups who are being hit the hardest.

Everyone deserves to have a place in their community and to live authentically without discrimination. When there is historical precedent that does not allow that, it needs to be changed and the Equal Rights Amendment would be a powerful measure to do so.
As family farmer, clean water is very important to me. I have worked hard to become a Water Quality Certified Farmer by the MN Dept. of Ag.

For farmers, it's vital we invest into programs such as the Sustainable Ag Equipment Grant which helps farmers purchase sustainable ag equipment.

Data centers are popping up more and more and we need to regulate their energy and water usage.

When it comes to clean energy, I support MN's 2040 clean energy goals.
The safety of MN's communities was under siege during ICE's Metro Surge. The cruelty we witnessed was horrible.

We need: - Legislation to protect against Federal overreach with ICE - Increased investment into our local emergency responders and shared State resources - Early intervention programs to address drug use, mental health, and homelessness. - Accountability for social services programs that are meant to help people so that none of the funds are wasted.
I support campaign finance reform that will ensure voters know who is paying to influence their vote.

We should expand disclosure requirements for independent expenditures, digital ads, and social media so people are well informed when they’re seeing advertisements.

We should also ensure that the penalties for violations of our campaign finance laws match the severity of misleading voters when it comes from large entities with hundreds of millions of dollars to spend.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
