They write and vote on legislation to create, repeal, or change state laws affecting many issues, like health care, the environment, and the economy. First is to regain the health, senior, and child care our rural residents deserve. To gain this we secondly need to work to lower the response times for emergency services as our tax dollars should be providing this already. Third is to focus on our educational opportunities to ensure we have the workforce in both health and trade skills to ensure we can provide quality building and service practices to meet our demands for our homes and care.
We need to provide self-sustainability to our communities and those who live within them. We need to redevelop services and provide the products we need to meet the demands we have in our local communities.
We need to codify the right for any person with the proper experience and qualifications to work in the job they seek. We as a society shouldn't see a disability, race, or gender as a reason to prevent an individual to provide the demands of a company and their client base.
Yes, every person deserves the right to opportunity and prosperity and if they carry the most experience, they should be awarded those opportunities. Currently, we have individuals that are born into their jobs with hereditary opportunity and grace applied to them over those who are more qualified for the role or position.
We are but temporary as the planet continues on for the generations to come. We should not focus on short-term gains at the sacrifice of long-term effects for those who will come after us.
We need to ensure that our public workforce are trained with the best training available to ensure that they know all parts of the law and know how to de-escalate situations instead of the current trend to escalate. We also need to ensure that those who carry firearms are well regulated as it is stated at the beginning of the second Amendment. We need to address the fact that schools should be a safe place to run towards like they once were rather than run away from as our children currently do.
Before anything in our government can change we need to remove how our government is bought and paid for. Citizen's United needs to be overturned. As there has been talk about voter fraud, those who claim it so neglect the fact that a business casts a second vote for a person who has already voted when they spend money to lobby candidates and elected officials in "their best interest as a company".

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
