My top three priorities will be affordability, accountability, and public safety. First, making life more affordable by addressing the rising costs of housing, taxes, energy, and everyday necessities. Families should be able to keep more of what they earn. Second, restoring accountability and transparency in government. Taxpayers deserve responsible spending, stronger oversight, and action to prevent fraud and waste. Third, strengthening public safety by ensuring our police, fire, EMS, and emergency services have the resources they need to protect our communities. These priorities matter because families deserve a government that listens, spends responsibly, and puts their needs first.
Minnesota needs a competitive business climate that encourages investment, job creation, and economic growth. I will work to reduce unnecessary regulations, streamline permitting, and support responsible tax policies that help businesses grow. While the state cannot control inflation, it can address the costs its own policies add to everyday life. By controlling spending, reducing unnecessary costs, and encouraging competition, we can make Minnesota more affordable for families and businesses.
I believe every Minnesotan deserves equal opportunity, regardless of race or ethnicity. I would support policies that address barriers to quality education, affordable housing, employment, and economic opportunity. That means strengthening educational outcomes, encouraging workforce development, and removing unnecessary barriers to starting and growing businesses. Our focus should be on providing equal opportunity, treating everyone fairly, and helping individuals and families succeed.
No. I believe every Minnesotan deserves equal rights and equal protection under the law. However, I oppose the proposed Equal Rights Amendment because it goes beyond equal treatment by including abortion and gender identity provisions. I also have concerns about its potential impact on religious liberty, parental rights, and protections for women and girls. Constitutional amendments should be clear, narrowly focused, and protect the rights of all Minnesotans.
Protecting Minnesota's air and water is essential to the health of our families and communities. I would support legislation that strengthens water quality monitoring, protects drinking water sources, and holds polluters accountable. We must also ensure transparency when contamination is discovered and prioritize solutions that protect public health. Environmental protection should be based on sound science, local input, and responsible spending without placing unnecessary burdens on families a
Safe communities start with strong public safety services. I would support legislation that ensures police, fire, EMS, and 911 dispatch have the staffing, training, and resources needed to protect our communities. I also support holding violent offenders accountable, addressing repeat offenders, and strengthening recruitment and retention of first responders. Public safety should prioritize protecting victims, supporting those who serve, and ensuring families feel safe in their neighborhoods.
I support greater transparency and accountability in campaign financing. Voters deserve to know who is funding political campaigns and influencing elections. I would support strengthening disclosure requirements, improve enforcement of existing campaign finance laws, and ensuring violations have meaningful consequences. Elections should be decided by informed voters, not hidden financial interests. Any reforms must also respect First Amendment rights and apply fairly to everyone.

The first is to make sure that families and individuals do not have to worry about the affordability of healthcare. An emergency should not affect the rest of your life. Insurance companies must step up and pay these charges. Not only are the patients being victimized, so are the providers, as was made clear with Hennepin County Medical Center when they were not paid.

Second, seniors need certainty around charges in assisted living facilities. We must prevent arbitrary rent increases notwithstanding existing contracts.

Third, a focus on our young learners who do better in small classes, especially K-4, so that they can begin to master reading, writing and math, and learn vital social skills, while closing the achievement gap.
A vibrant economy begins with the basics: safe water and clean air. Next, investments in our schools and educational system to provide the foundation for a ready workforce and tomorrow's innovations. Safe communities, with reliable police, fire and EMS responses allow businesses to grow and individuals to thrive. Expanding access to healthcare and childcare, while protecting Minnesota’s workforce, farmers and business from external inflationary pressures may ease some of the stress.
There is no place for racism in Minnesota. We need to make sure all are protected. In recent years it is sad that the President has brought this to our table. Despite the advancements of the civil rights movement, we are moving backward. No one should be complacent. We’re all in this together and we are stronger together. I would support, or submit, any legislation to restore and protect these hard fought steps toward equality.
Yes. We are among the few states yet to take this important step. This should have become part of our bedrock years ago and I do not understand the ongoing resistance to the basic notion every person is equal, with an equal place in our state regardless of sex.
We must work to prevent pollution, and hold individuals and companies responsible for the harms they cause. This is the only environment we have and we must protect it. The implications reach every part of our lives. There is no “do over” once a child’s development has been stunted by toxins, or a parent’s life has been shortened by respiratory disease. We need clean air and water to grow a safe food supply. A clean environment is also our best playground.
I support community-based policing, which means listening to the experts and groups from various segments of society to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

I also support our school resource officers who create a safe and secure environment for our school kids.

We must also ensure that emergency services can reach people in need across the state, and that medical facilities remain open and accessible.
Big money is ruining our elections at state and federal levels. We need to get rid of Citizens United and end dark money. Quite simply, we should know who is backing candidates and issues that can re-shape our government and our lives.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
