Age 46
Highest Post-secondary education M.A., Webster University, public policy
1) Expand early childhood development to add more full-time employees. Maintain our competitive pay to bring in the best teachers and retain the ones we have currently. 2) Maintain fiscal responsibility where we are not spending money irresponsibly. 3) Make IEPs easier and more readily available for families whose children have developmental challenges.
Was on the Proposition E committee to increase pay for our teachers and administrators. Member of the Proposition S finance committee for proper disbursement of funds.
Age 30
Highest Post-secondary education B.S., Missouri State University, human resources management
1) Student achievement and academic success: making sure each student has the resources they need to succeed and are ready for life after graduation, and focusing on their mental health. 2) Teacher and staff support: ensuring that our staff are paid competitively and have the resources they need. 3) School safety: ensuring our schools are the safest in the country.
I graduated from Beasley, Bernard and Oakville and I know what it is like to be a student in the district. My mom is a teacher in the district and my sisters are also teachers. It is important to be focused on students and staff, ensuring that students have what they need to succeed and that teachers/staff have what they need to be successful.
Age 45
Highest Post-secondary education MSW, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
1) Optimizing current funding to address the whole child, academically and emotionally. My work experience provides me with a deep understanding of how mental health and trauma affect us. 2) Advocate for policies to increase district-wide well-being. 3) Foster stronger partnerships between schools, staff, families and the community.
Within my social work career I have advocated for children, with their parents, in schools across the St. Louis region. I understand the rights parents and children have within the school setting to receive the specialized education children need to succeed. I have served on the PTO of my children’s elementary school for three-plus years and am its vice president.
Age 62
Highest Post-secondary education M.Ed., Southwest Missouri State University
1) I will continue to support the growth of our early childhood programs in the district. Fact-based evidence tells us that early learning is the key to success in later grades. 2) I would like to see our district move to the "desirable class size" guideline, in comparison to the state's "minimum" standard. 3) Maintain fiscal transparency and efficiency.
I taught kindergarten and first grade in the Mehlville district for 25-plus years before retiring in 2020. During my tenure I sat on curriculum committees for math, science and social studies. Additionally, I was a National Education Association member and served on the bargaining committee. Currently, I am a community member of the legislative advocacy committee.
