In my first term, we tackled the district's complicated pay matrix and streamlined it, providing an understandable structure. This has put the district in a more competitive position to keep and attract quality educators and staff while being more in line with surrounding districts.

We need to remain fiscally responsible. Academic scoring needs to improve, the current board is committed to improving our academic performance. With the threat of open enrollment out there, I would like to see more ways that we can attract new students and faculty members.
With the current state of our public’s perception of the district, I want to express that I am a part of a district that is not having any woke issues that have been circulating in the past. Kitty litter in the bathrooms, not happening. The district is committed to treating all of our students and staff with dignity, respect and compassion.

High school and some college. Retired after serving as battalion chief of the Cedar Hill Fire Department for 40-plus years. Husband, father, grandfather. I have lived in R-1 all my life. Most of my family have graduated from R-1 school district.
