Our superintendent starts July 1, so working to get him fully involved with the district and community is paramount. Next year we will develop a five-year strategic plan; we need to make sure this fully embraces our goals and expectations. Finally, we must continue our work to close the achievement gap, study what's working and be innovative about possible new approaches.
I taught high school English for 15 years, my last six at Kirkwood High School, so I know well the challenges teachers face. My children went through Kirkwood schools, so I know the district from the parent side as well. And now, having served on the school board for the last three years, I am able to understand things through that lens as well.

Build on the strong foundation of the Kirkwood School District, ensuring it continues to grow and thrive in innovative ways. Raise academic standards while providing teachers with the support they need to help all students succeed. Strive for excellence for all students, families and educators by meeting individual needs and creating meaningful engagement.
As a Kirkwood alum and parent of current students, my experience in the district includes serving in various PTO roles at Kirkwood Early Childhood Center and North Glendale, including co-president, co-vice president and treasurer. I also contributed to the district's Master Facility Planning Committee and the United Way Early Childhood Education Allocation Panel.

Highest Post-secondary education MBA, University of Arkansas; M.A., Washington University, international affairs
I only have one priority: academic achievement. How do we get there? Developing strong literacy skills, strengthening our STEM curriculum, ensuring safe, clean schools that foster learning, investing in our teachers and all students, and partnering with parents.
My experience with education is as a consumer and I offer the district the perspective of a product manager in helping make sound decisions. I want to help the district ensure it delivers every student the highest quality education that fits their individual needs.
