Clayton Proposition F
Simple majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the City of Clayton impose an additional sales tax of one quarter of one percent for the purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the Clayton fire department?Summary: This measure would authorize the city to increase the present quarter-cent sales tax dedicated solely to fire and EMS services to a half-cent. The tax would commence in October and raise about $980,000 annually for fire and EMS services. If passed, the overall sales tax rate in the city would increase to 9.263 cents from 9.238 cents. Proponents say emergency calls have increased 83% since 2014 and increased funds are needed to keep wages competitive, maintain equipment and provide advanced training for firefighters and paramedics.
