Gerald Public Safety Tax
Simple majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the City of Gerald be allowed to impose a one cent per dollar sales tax, for the purpose of the City of Gerald Police Department. If passed, the fiscal impact of this measure will be to generate approximately $130,000 annually, used only to recruit additional full time Police officers and retain current officers.Summary: This proposition would allow a new one-cent city sales tax. If passed, the overall sales tax rate in the city would increase to 10.475 cents from 9.475 cents. The proposed tax would raise about $130,000 to recruit and retain full-time police officers to enhance public safety.
