Franklin County Proposition 911
Simple majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the County of Franklin, Missouri impose a local use tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate, provided that if the local sales tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate shall also be reduced or raised by the same action? Funding from this local use tax will be used to secure a stable funding source for the future of Franklin County's 9-1-1 and emergency dispatch services.Summary: The measure would allow the county to impose a quarter-cent tax on out-of-state purchases. If passed, about $1 million would be raised annually to help pay for 911 services. When established, 911 service was funded by a 15% tax on landline phones but the county's 911 system has been deficit spending because the number of landline phones has decreased.
