Gasconade County R-I School District Proposition C.A.R.E

Four-sevenths majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the Board of Education of the Gasconade County R-1 School District, Missouri, without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy, borrow money in the amount of Three Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($3,500,00) for the purpose of providing funds to replace the High School roof; to complete tuckpointing; to repave parking lots; to replace the remaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; to the extent funds are available, complete other repairs and improvements to the existing facilities of the District; and issue general obligation bonds for the payment thereof? If this proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the School District is estimated to remain unchanged at $0.6030 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.Summary: The measure would allow the district to borrow $3.5 million to make major repairs to district facilities. If passed, taxes would not increase but the district’s debt obligation would be extended. Supporters say the high school needs a new roof and tuckpointing, HVAC systems need to be replaced in the elementary school and parking lots at the middle school need repaving. If enough revenue is available, other needed repairs also would be made across school facilities.
