Simple majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the municipality of the City of Washington, Franklin County, Missouri impose and renew a sales tax of one-half (1/2) of one percent for the purpose of funding capital improvements which may include the retirement of debt under previously authorized bonded indebtedness, said imposition being a renewal of the existing capital improvements sales tax scheduled to expire automatically June 30, 2026. The renewal of this tax will expire automatically on June 30, 2034.Summary: The measure would continue a half-cent sales tax for capital improvement projects, that was begun in 1989 and set to expire June 30. If passed, the tax would be extended until 2034 and at least $2.8 million would be raised annually. The revenue is used for parks, facility improvements, emergency services and other projects. Future projects include a permanent senior center.
