Jefferson County School District Proposition S
Four-sevenths majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the Board of Education of the Jefferson County R-VII School District, Missouri, without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy, borrow money in the amount of Fourteen Million Dollars ($14,000,000) for the purpose of providing funds for the site development, construction, and extension of Blue Jay Way, which will include an additional entrance/exit, roundabouts, and a dedicated turn lane; to upgrade security systems District-wide, including but not limited to, video, locks, and alarms; to complete the addition of a concession stand, press box, and restrooms at the football/track stadium; to construct, equip, and furnish a baseball/softball facility at the Jefferson High School Campus; to update the Danby Middle School playground; to the extent funds are available, acquire equipment, expand and renovate parking lots, and complete other repairs and improvements to the existing facilities of the District; and issue general obligation bonds for the payment thereof? If this proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the School District is estimated to remain unchanged at $0.8104 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.Summary: The measure would allow the district to borrow $14 million to make significant improvements in its facilities. If passed, taxes would not be increased but the debt repayment would be extended. Major projects include constructing an entrance way, upgrading security systems, renovating the football stadium, constructing a baseball/softball facility, upgrading the Danby-Rush Tower Middle School playground and repairing and renovating facilities and parking lots as funds permit.
