Ellisville Proposition 1
Four-sevenths majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the City of Ellisville, Missouri, issue its general obligation bonds in an amount up to $3,600,000.00 for the purpose of acquiring the real property located at 2301 Westhills Park Drive, Ellisville, Missouri 63011 (commonly known as the Ellisville Athletic Association), improving the real property, and acquiring any other land or right-of-way necessary therefor?Summary: The proposition would allow the city to borrow up to $3.6 million to buy and improve the Ellisville Athletic Association baseball and softball fields. The bond issue would require a property tax increase of about 10 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The owner of a home worth $400,000 would pay an additional $75.32 annually in city property tax. The city's plans include subsurface drainage systems and new backstops, fencing, lighting and artificial turf. City officials say the association believes the only way to compete with other facilities is to install artificial turf but that it doesn't have the resources to pay for the improvements and can't obtain financing.
