Florissant Proposition 1
Simple majority required:Ballot wording: Shall the Charter of the City of Florissant be amended by the addition of a section requiring voter approval of certain land transactions concerning city parks, as set forth in Exhibit A of Ordinance No. 9044 on file with the City of Florissant City Clerk and the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners.Summary: The measure would amend the city charter to require voter approval before the city council can sell, use or dispose of public park land for any purpose other than a public park. The change would apply to park land owned by the city now or acquired in the future. The amendment is modeled after a St. Louis County measure that required voter approval for the development or disposal of green spaces. Supporters say that green spaces belong to the people and that direct community input is important. Opponents say voter fatigue may occur if ballot measures are frequently required to make green space decisions.
