Maryland Heights Fire District Proposition B

Four-sevenths majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District issue general obligation bonds in the amount of Fifteen Million Dollars for the purpose of purchasing real property, furnishing, equipping and maintaining fire stations, and purchasing and equipping life-saving ambulances and fire protection and technologically advanced fire-fighting apparatus and auxiliary equipment therefor to carry out the purposes of the District, improve emergency services and reduce response times?Summary: The measure would allow the district to borrow $15 million to expand fire stations and purchase ambulances, ladder trucks and other equipment. If passed, taxes would not increase but the debt payment period would be extended. Supporters say prices have increased significantly, current equipment is reaching the end of its useful lifespan and there is a long waiting time to acquire equipment.
