Monarch Fire District Proposition D

Four-sevenths majority.Ballot wording: Shall the Monarch Fire Protection District of St. Louis County, Missouri issue its general obligation bonds in the amount of Forty-Two Million Dollars ($42,000,000) for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, renovating, furnishing and equipping fire stations and other facilities to save lives and property, and acquiring and equipping new and replacement fire fighting vehicles, life-saving ambulances, apparatus and auxiliary equipment to meet current safety standards?Summary: The measure would allow the district to borrow $42 million to construct and equip fire stations, purchase fire trucks and ambulances, and upgrade emergency and safety equipment. If passed, taxes would not increase but the debt obligation would be extended. Supporters say 450 calls had to be diverted to other districts in 2025 because all equipment and staff were in use. Supporters also say demand for emergency service will only increase in the future and more capacity is needed to meet it.
